The Bitter Truth of Our Society
Orphan: a term that has a variety of emotions and attitudes attached to it.
It breaks our heart to say that orphans are the most neglected part of our society, often treated as lesser beings just because their parents have abandoned them by choice or perhaps an unfortunate event took their parents away forever.
They are looked down upon just because fate hasn’t been kind to them in the least.
But why is it this way? Is the pain and grief of losing parents not enough that we instill some more in them? Why can’t we look past all that they’ve gone through and see them as equals?
Getting abandoned or losing parents to the inevitable reality of death is no less than a trauma. It’s not only heartbreaking but it also brings the fear of uncertainty and a possible negative effect on one’s self-esteem. The least we can do for them is to treat them well and shower them with love and care.
We don’t have to resort to passing hurtful comments and condescending remarks, that too right in their faces, that leaves them to question the purpose of their very existence.
Sadly, this is what has become of society. Everyone’s so busy with their life, trying to improve their standard of living day in and night out that they forget about the unfortunate ones or perhaps even consider themselves as far better and worthier than them. However, as they say, ‘not all fingers are equal’, there are a few kind souls still left on the face of this Earth who are trying their best to facilitate the delicate jewels that orphaned kids are. These kind-hearted people are the reason why God hasn’t unleashed His wrath on our world. Otherwise, the number of atrocities committed against humans by humans is something that shakes us to the core.
Changing the Faulty Mindset
That being said, several organizations are also working for the betterment of the helpless children, taking care of their needs and wants as much as they can. It’s surprising how much a stranger’s love can do for a child who has lost their parents and have nobody to look after them. A gesture as simple as putting your hand on an orphan’s head can mean the world to them. It’s good to see that there is a group of kind people who are playing their part in transforming the lives of the unfortunate members of society for the better. These people are willing to extra miles to put an end to the suffering of 26 million orphans around the world.
