The COVID-19 outbreak has affected billions worldwide, infecting millions and taking thousands of precious lives. Furthermore, due to the lack of funds and deteriorating businesses worldwide, many people are rendered without access to basic necessities, including food, water, and shelter.
Life as we knew it changed in a matter of few days as the drastic effects are witnessed by everyone, including the children at the Hindu Anathashram orphanage in the remote town of Nadiad in India.
However, you can help Orphan Life Foundation provide a secure environment and daily necessities of life to the children. Now, more than ever, it’s time we stand together and help those in need, for it is the only way ahead.
Governments, organizations, and individuals must show solidarity in response to the global outbreak. We call you to donate today to set a foundation for a better tomorrow.
According to 2020 Orphan Report by INSAMER, IHH Humanitarian and Social Research Center, there were 31 million orphans in India in 2020. The real numbers are expected to be much higher as many orphaned children are never included in the official statistics for several reasons. As the virus engulfed India, the number of orphaned children has skyrocketed in the last few months.
For the future of the society, it is vital that orphans, who may suffer irreparable losses if left at the mercy of the wrong people, are looked after and cared for. COVID-19 crisis is particularly threatening for the orphans who represent a highly vulnerable group in India.
There is an extreme shortage of supplies, including food, clean water, clothes, school supplies, face masks, and other basic necessities.

Already battling poverty and lack of resources, these children are now burdened with the possibility of deadly and infectious illness. Living in groups, they are at a high risk of disease due to the concentrated population. Due to the lack of living space in the facility, social distancing and quarantine are also not possible for these children.
It breaks our heart to witness young children with bright ideas and undying hopes for a better life feel the effect of the turbulence caused by what may possibly be the biggest upheaval of the century. Regardless, the reality is that shelters and orphanages sponsored by Orphan Life Foundation in India continue to take a hit in these difficult times.
