Orphans

When it comes to helping orphans in need, we are all on the same page. We all want them to have a loving and nurturing environment, where they will learn, grow and become productive members of society. The best way of ensuring this outcome will be to adopt them and bring them up in our own homes.

However, this is usually not possible for most people, especially when we vector in the hundreds of millions of orphans out there. But that does not mean that we refrain from helping out in our own small way. There are certain ways you can help the orphans in Burkina Faso who have had the great misfortune of being born in the most underdeveloped region in the world. Let us see what we can do, as individuals, to help these destitute orphans improve their lot in life:

Set up a “Change for Children” Collection Point in your Dining Room

You can easily start a ‘collection point’ for needy orphans. Your family members, friends and neighbors can drop loose change in a transparent jar. You can open the jar and donate the proceeds to a charity organization that works with orphaned children in sub-Saharan Africa. You can also buy Christmas presents or other gifts to give as donations.

Sponsor an Orphan

If you cannot bring a child into your home, then you can surely make a commitment to become his or her sponsor. You can contact any aid agency working with orphaned children in sub-Saharan Africa and they will give you all the sponsorship details. By sponsoring these children, you will be able to take care of their food, shelter, clothing and educational needs. Furthermore, as a sponsor, your annual donation will also help to streamline the logistical process of legal adoption in many far-flung parts of the world. This is due to the fact that adoption is a costly process and requires a lot of funds before it can be pushed through to its logical conclusion.

This way, even if you are not adopting a child yourself, you are paving the way for many helpless children to find their ways into the loving arms of welcoming families in foreign lands. Furthermore, you can also adopt a school and thereby take responsibility for paying the teachers and school equipment.

Sensitize the Issue

As an individual, you will be little more than a drop in the ocean. But if you were to sensitize the society around you, then just imagine the sea change you can bring. And to bring about this change, all you have to do is highlight the issue on your social media accounts, in your neighborhood and the workplace.

Conclusion

These are just a few ways you can help the suffering orphans in Burkina Faso. We, at Orphan Life Foundation, are always looking for volunteers and donors so that we can continue to provide these unfortunate souls the love and care they deserve.
